Who we are

Looking for UK clothing manufacturers?

Hawthorn International is a London-headquartered clothing manufacturer operating its own overseas factory. We deliver a full-scale production solution — design development, pattern cutting, fabric sourcing, sampling, bulk manufacturing and quality control — for fashion start-ups, small clothing brands, SMEs and emerging designers who need real factory access without warehouse-scale order volumes.

Because we own the production line rather than broker it, your specification is controlled in one place: the pattern maker, merchandiser and QC team all work to the same approved tech pack. That is how a 50-piece first run can carry the same construction standards as a repeat 5,000-piece order.

About Hawthorn
Why brands choose Hawthorn

Built for brands that are still scaling.

Most factories are structured for volume. We are structured for the first five seasons — when cash flow is tight, sizing is unproven and every unit of stock has to sell.

01 / Order quantity

Lowest practical MOQ for fully custom garments

From 50 pieces per design. Test a capsule, prove demand and reinvest, instead of tying capital into 500 units of an untested fit.

02 / Construction

Cut & sewn by hand

Every panel is cut, stitched and finished by skilled operatives — not assembled from blanks.

03 / Control

Four-stage QC

Fabric inspection, in-line checks, end-of-line audit and final pre-pack inspection.

04 / Development

Tech packs made for you

No tech pack yet? We build the spec sheet, size chart and bill of materials from your sketches or reference garment.

05 / Accountability

A UK company, contract and point of contact

Hawthorn International Ltd is registered in England and Wales (Company No. 08937806). You brief a named UK-based account team in English, under UK terms, while production runs in our own facility — removing the agent layer that usually sits between a brand and its factory floor.

Low order quantity custom clothing production at Hawthorn
Low minimum order quantity

Start at 50 pieces per design

Hawthorn offers one of the lowest minimum order quantities in the UK for genuinely custom clothing — from 50 pieces per design. Every garment is made to order and remains fully customisable at that quantity, so a small run is not a compromised run.

Where a mill minimum or specialist dye process affects your MOQ, we tell you up front and offer an alternative fabric route rather than quietly inflating the order.

  • Ideal for start-up labels, capsule drops and seasonal testing
  • Split your MOQ across sizes to match real demand curves
  • UK-managed, competitively priced through a global supply chain

Quality standards

High quality clothing, verified four times

Every garment we manufacture is cut, stitched and finished by hand. A four-stage quality control procedure runs alongside production so defects are caught at the stage they occur — not discovered by your customers.

Incoming fabric is inspected for shade and faults, in-line checks monitor seam and stitch integrity, the end-of-line audit measures against your approved size chart, and a final inspection is completed before folding and packing.

  • Garments produced strictly to your approved specification
  • Measured tolerance checks against your graded size chart
  • Consistency maintained across repeat production runs
How we work
Clothing made by hand — customisation and finishing options
Customisation

Fully customisable clothing

Keep full creative control of your product. Choose fabric composition and weight, fit and grading, embroidery, screen and DTG print, all-over sublimation, plus finishing details such as woven labels, swing tags, drawcords, zips and buttons.

Optional Pantone dyeing means your brand palette is matched at fabric level rather than approximated from a stock shade card — important once you start producing across multiple seasons.

  • Fabric selection guided by drape, durability, handfeel and budget
  • Branding applied in-house: labels, prints, embroidery and trims
  • Your patterns and specifications retained for repeat orders

Manufacturing process

How your order moves through the factory

Every garment we produce is custom made, so a single documented route applies to all orders. Other UK clothing manufacturers may only accept finished tech packs — we can take a concept and make it production ready, guiding you through each stage.

STEP 01 Pre-production stage icon

Pre-production

We review your idea, references and commercial targets, then translate them into a measurable specification.

View and trial designs digitally in 3D to get them production ready.

STEP 02 Pattern development stage icon

Pattern development

Patterns are developed from your custom dimensions or an existing garment used as a sizing reference.

Fit replication, pattern cutting and grading included as standard.

STEP 03 Fabric sourcing stage icon

Fabric sourcing

Fabric is sourced or produced per order to meet your requirements for composition, handfeel and budget.

Optional Pantone dyeing to match brand colour specifications.

STEP 04 Prototypes and sampling stage icon

Prototypes & sampling

Each order includes a prototype for approval, so you can refine fit and detailing before bulk begins.

A sample of each design is included free with every order.

STEP 05 Bulk production stage icon

Bulk manufacturing

Production runs on our own line, with your approved sample and specification forming the bulk standard.

All garments are handmade in bulk in our factory.

STEP 06 Quality check stage icon

Quality check & delivery

A four-stage quality check identifies and rectifies rare defects before your order is folded and packed.

Shipped from our factory to your UK or overseas address.

Your questions answered

Straight answers before you commit

Sourcing a manufacturer is the highest-risk decision an early-stage brand makes. Below are the answers our merchandising team gives most often — including the parts other factories tend to leave vague.

All frequently asked questions

Hawthorn is a UK business with a Central London head office, and we operate our own factory overseas.

That structure is deliberate: you get UK account management, English-speaking merchandisers and UK contract terms, combined with the cost base of an owned offshore facility. It is the reason fully custom garments remain competitively priced at 50-piece minimums.

We specialise in most casual categories — streetwear, sportswear, gym clothing, loungewear and childrenswear.

Our MOQ starts from 50 pieces per design. Specific constructions, custom-knitted fabrics, multiple colourways or Pantone dyeing can require a higher minimum, because fabric mills apply their own minimums per shade.

Send your design and we will confirm the exact MOQ for that specification, plus a lower-minimum alternative where one exists. Offering the lowest practical minimum in the industry is how we support small businesses that larger UK clothes manufacturers often turn away.

Some UK suppliers sell pre-made “white label” blanks. Our garments are made to order — custom manufactured to your specification.

We also hold a range of developed designs where dimensions, fit and fabric are already defined. Those are still produced to order, so you can change fabric, colour, trims and branding without redeveloping the block from zero.

Intelligent sourcing means fabric is chosen with your design in mind, so colour, softness, durability and cost all sit inside your brief.

Each item is carefully cut and stitched by hand, and every garment passes four stages of quality control.

We start from your technical specification — and build one with you if you do not have it. Once an order is placed we produce a pre-production sample for approval, then proceed to bulk.

Incoming fabric is checked for defects and shade, bulk fabric is cut to your graded pattern, panels are sewn, then trims and hardware are added. After the final quality check, your order is dispatched through our network of global couriers.

As a working guide: pattern development and sampling typically takes two to four weeks, then bulk production a further four to six weeks after you approve the sample.

Lead time moves with fabric availability, Pantone dyeing, print or embroidery complexity and order size. Your merchandiser confirms a milestone schedule — sample dispatch, bulk start, QC, hand-over to courier — before production begins, so launch dates can be planned against real dates rather than estimates.

A tech pack speeds everything up, but it is not a requirement. If you have sketches, mood boards or a reference garment, our design team can produce the tech pack, size chart and bill of materials for you.

This matters commercially: a documented spec makes your product repeatable, comparable and transferable between production runs — and protects your fit standard as order volumes grow.

Yes. We have worked as a supplier for over 2,000 start-up fashion brands, covering garment manufacturing and fashion design services.

Our focus is always the quality of the finished product, because that is what determines repeat sales and return rates. Hawthorn is a UK-based business with more than a decade of experience supporting both UK labels and international customers.
